Transport Program

Louisiana has a serious pet overpopulation problem. Each year, approximately 47% of shelter pets are euthanized in municipal shelters throughout the state. Transport programs provide a different outcome for these pets –they save lives.
Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA) is a leader in transporting animals to communities where adopters are plentiful and shelter pets are in high demand. Twice per month, our dedicated staff and volunteers transport our pets to out-of-state no-kill shelter partners. Through this program, our pets find homes in CO, WA, OR, northern CA, FL, MI and New England.
Ground transport isn’t the only way our shelter pets find homes — four times a year they fly! AAA partners with Wings of Rescue, an all volunteer pilot organization, for quarterly flights to no-kill shelters throughout the country. Utilizing charter cargo planes to transport our pets, these flights can save up to 200 cats and dogs per trip.
AAA’s nationally recognized transport programs saves over 2,000 shelter pets annually.
Please consider donating to our transport program. You can help us save thousands of lives!
