Some Of Our Most Powerful Advocates
Are Still In The Classroom

…so we thought…
“What better way to educate about animals than to educate WITH animals?”
As a result – our amazing volunteers have developed the following programs:
Kitty Litter-A-Ture

Where kids visit our Cat Cottage to practice their reading skills to the cats at their particular grade level. This program is supported by Raising Cane’s.

I Read to Animals

Volunteers and therapy dogs encourage children in grades K-3 to practice their reading skills, without judgment, in our local schools and summer programs. The children get a stuffed animal that they adopt and make a pledge to care for and the books read during these sessions are donated to the school libraries. This program is funded by The Pinhook Foundation and Raising Cane’s.

Jr Volunteer

Children ages 10-15 visit our shelter two Saturdays a month to learn how to properly care for and advocate for dogs and cats.
