Fill Out An Adoption Form

Scroll through our pet listings to view all available pets currently in our care. When submitting a form, you can either fill it out for a specific animal(s) or describe what qualities/traits you’re looking for in a pet so that our adoption team can help you in your selection. Our job is to ensure that every match is the right fit for both you AND the animal.

Once your form is submitted, our adoption counselors will contact you directly to ask and answer questions, and schedule a meet and greet appointment.

Visit Our Shelter

While appointments are NOT required and walk-ins are accepted during our regular operating hours, it is important to keep in mind that 60% of our animals are housed off-site in foster homes and those in foster care will need an appointment in order to be scheduled in.

If you would like to bring your personal dog in for introductions this MUST be arranged with a scheduled appointment.

Meet and greets may involve a walk through our shelter, one-on-one time with select pets, and in depth discussion with our adoption counselors who will go over any known history, medical records, and expectations for bringing home your new family member.

Adopt Your New Best Friend

When you feel ready to let them into your heart, it’s time to take your new best friend home! We will process payment, have you sign an adoption contract, and exchange the animals’ records. We accept all forms of payment (card, cash, check).

Select pets may be available for our Trial Adoption program, where you can bring the pet into your home for a one week period to ensure they are the right match for your home environment and family before officially finalizing the adoption.

Adoption Pricing

Adoption fees support the cost of care that is provided to every animal at Acadiana Animal Aid. As part of the adoption, all animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on basic veterinary care and are microchipped. As a rescue, we pride ourselves on a high standard of care and treat a wide variety of diseases, illnesses and trauma to ensure the health and wellbeing of the animals placed in your home. On average we spend more than $400 on each animal that comes through our doors making our adoption fees an incredible value.

Ruff Patch & Wounded Purrior

Here at Acadiana Animal Aid, homeless to happy isn’t the only kind of transformation! Whether from hurting to healing, or hungry to healthy, creating change for our animals remains urgent. We make a simple promise to all of the lives in our care: your suffering ends now.

The Ruff Patch and Wounded Purrior Funds makes that promise a reality. Illness, malnutrition, and injuries don’t come with warnings or schedules, but what they do come with is an immediate need for help. By increasing the adoption fee for select animals, you can help us prepare for unexpected emergencies, ongoing medical care, and rehabilitation for the pets who do not have a family awaiting their arrival. They have no one but us, and we need you.
