For the last seven years, Acadiana Animal Aid has offered a series of Summer Adventure Camps. These sessions were designed to instill in our community’s kids a compassion for all living creatures and inspire a life-long appreciation and respect for animals.

With continued restrictions in place brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the risk for transmission of the virus in group or congregate settings, Acadiana Animal Aid made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining two 2020 summer camps.

“Acadiana Animal Aid loves facilitating our Summer Adventure Camp program. To see 25 faces engaged in learning about animal care and welfare, the importance of spaying and neutering, and enjoying hands on experiences with shelter pets is a great way to start our day,” says Jeanine Foucher, Acadiana Animal Aid executive director. “After much consideration, Acadiana Animal Aid has decided to cancel our summer camps to ensure all children and staff remain safe during COVID-19. We are looking forward to offering camps in the summer of 2021.”

Despite the cancellations, local families can be still be a part of Acadiana Animal Aid by fostering a shelter animal in need. If a family or individual would like to shelter a pet, please fill out a foster application by visiting acadianaanimalaid.org/foster-2.
