Acadiana Animal Aid partners with Wings of Rescue to save over 200 lives

On Saturday, 10/20 at 5 a.m., Acadiana Animal Aid will load up more than 200 cats and dogs for transport to the Pacific Northwest. Staff and volunteers will gather at the shelter and drive our pets to a private hangar at the Lafayette Airport. Once there, AAA will meet Wings of Rescue staff and pilots to begin loading these amazing animals onto the largest plane in the Wings of Rescue fleet, a Brasilia. Utilizing this plane will allow us to save over 200 lives – our largest transport ever.

Wings of Rescue is planning a 9 a.m. departure and from there our pets will head to shelters in Washington State where over 84% of shelter pets find a forever home. This is a huge contrast to Louisiana where only 53% of pets leave the shelter alive; this is why transport, in addition to access to low-cost spay/neuter, is so important.
